Book Slam x Royal Society of Literature
@ Somerset House
Strand
LONDON
WC2R 1LA
Time: 7.00pm til not very lateish
Tickets: Free - just rock up!
Book Slam, London’s original literary juke joint, is teaming up with the Royal Society of Literature at Somerset House, the capital’s most beautiful venue. Join us overlooking the river for a night of music, spoken word, comedy, myth-making and visual wizardry exploring the theme of rebirth, revival and retelling.
Guests include old pal and Aussie comedian, Felicity Ward, writer and performance poet, Nii Ayikwei Parks, and playwright and author, Samantha Ellis, doughty defender of a fading Judeo-Iraqi language. We're also joined by Theon Cross, a genuine innovator of the new London Jazz scene, visual artist and comic creator, Karrie Fransman, plus the brilliantly prolific poet, lyricist, playwright and screenwriter, Sabrina Mahfouz.
This event is part of a series of collaborations between the RSL and Book Slam. Celebrating the spoken and written word with a mixed bill of writers and performers, each night will explore a different theme in a different, distinctive venue.
