Book Slam x Gimme Shelter, 14 September
02 September 2017
We’ve been away. We apologise. We’re back for the Autumn with an absolutely cracking event on Thursday 14 September in the company of our friends at Shelter, the UK’s housing and homelessness charity. Tickets are £15 and strictly limited, so enter the ballot on the Shelter website asap.
You should come because ORLANDO WEEKS, former frontman of The Maccabees, will read from his debut novel, ‘The Gritterman’, a song for the unsung hero, and Pussy Riot’s MARIA ALYOKHINA will introduce us to ‘Riot Days’, her account of arrest, trial and imprisonment.
You should come because Book Slam’s dear friends, the uniquely urbane DAVID NICHOLLS and the uniquely profane JOHN NIVEN, will be sharing their work, and poet and author LAURA DOCKRILL will treat us to what takes her fancy.
You should come because SHANE SOLANKI rocks, while CHRISTOPHER BLISS rolls out two to three novels a day and is a very funny man.
You should come because Book Slam is a good thing and Shelter a better one. You should come because 150 families in Britain become homeless every day. You should come.
