Book Slam X The London African Music Festival

The Flyover

The capital’s best book event teamed up with its hottest festival to tell some of the freshest stories from Africa and beyond. Guests included NOO SARO-WIWA, whose extraordinary, prize-winning debut ‘Looking For Transwonderland: Travels In Nigeria’ offers a unique insight into the continent’s beating heart, and BUMI THOMAS, exquisite soul-folk vocals imbued with the modern African transculture. Poetry came from Trinidadian maestro ROGER ROBINSON, reading from his new collection, ‘The Butterfly Hotel’, and gifted newcomer, BELINDA ZHAWI. Stitching it all together was our host, INUA ELLAMS – poet, playwright and Afropolitan.
